Montreal (AFP) – The Edmonton Oilers won their 16th game in a row on Saturday, defeating Nashville 4-1 to move one game shy of matching the longest win streak in NHL history.
The home victory enabled Edmonton to match the 2016-17 Columbus Blue Jackets for the second-longest winning streak in NHL history.
The Oilers can equal the NHL record win streak set by the 1992-93 Pittsburgh Penguins when they visit the reigning Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights on February 6.
Should the Oilers match the NHL record run with a victory in Vegas, they would have a chance to set a new mark by winning at Anaheim on February 9.

The win streak began with a 6-3 triumph two nights later at New Jersey.
Edmonton won the last five games played in 2023, then completed an 11-0 sweep of January contests by beating Nashville.
