In breaking news, it has been confirmed that left-back Marcos Alonso is set to depart Barcelona this summer as a free agent. The latest reports suggest that his next destination will be none other than Atletico Madrid. This move would make Alonso only the third player in history to have graced the ranks of all three Spanish giants: Real Madrid, Barcelona, and now Atletico Madrid, following in the footsteps of legends Miguel Soler and Bernd Schuster.

Alonso, who began his career at Real Madrid, has since journeyed through various clubs including Bolton, Sunderland, Fiorentina, and Chelsea, before landing at Barcelona two years ago on a free transfer from Chelsea.

Despite his experience, Alonso has found himself on the fringes this season, tallying just 299 minutes on the pitch. The 33-year-old defender has accumulated 44 appearances for Barcelona, with his last outing dating back to October last year. With Alejandro Balde and Joao Cancelo currently favored ahead of him, Alonso’s move to Atletico Madrid promises to reignite his career and add another chapter to his footballing journey. Stay tuned for further updates as this transfer saga unfolds.
