Los Angeles (United States) (AFP) – The United States women’s football team will compete against Argentina, Colombia, and Canada in the 2026 SheBelieves Cup this March, US Soccer announced Wednesday. The annual invitation-only tournament is a key event as the US women gear up for the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil, and prepare to defend their Olympic title in Los Angeles the following year.
“These are three teams that will likely be in the World Cup in 2027 and of course we’ll likely see Canada in World Cup qualifying at the end of the year,” said US head coach Emma Hayes. Hayes said the SheBelieves Cup lineup will offer “great value” as her team “build toward the big events on the horizon”.
Colombia, featuring Real Madrid forward Linda Caicedo, made their debut last year, finishing third in a tournament won by Japan. The US had won the previous five consecutive editions of the SheBelieves Cup. The 11th edition features the usual round-robin format of six games played across three match days, with total points deciding a winner.
Opening matches pit the US against Argentina and Canada against Colombia in Nashville, Tennessee on March 1. The other match days take place in Columbus, Ohio on March 4, and Harrison, New Jersey on March 7. Canada will be making their fourth appearance, and Argentina their second.
