Los Angeles (United States) (AFP) – D’Andre Swift rushed for three touchdowns as the Chicago Bears overpowered the Seattle Seahawks 34-17 in a statement road victory over the reigning Super Bowl champions on Monday. Chicago running back Swift scored all three of his touchdowns in the second half at Seattle’s Lumen Field, two of them coming in the fourth quarter as the Seahawks threatened a comeback. A rampant Chicago defense led by newly signed defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons also helped shut down Seattle’s offense.
Simmons, traded to the Bears last week from the Tennessee Titans, enjoyed a dream debut with six tackles and a sack. “I’m so excited to be a Chicago Bear man,” Simmons told ESPN. “This is just the beginning. We’ve got some stuff to clean up but it’s a good football team and I’m happy to be a part of it.” Chicago quarterback Caleb Williams finished with 247 passing yards with 24-of-34 completions and one touchdown. Swift had 69 yards from 27 carries for his three touchdowns.
